All Abord Train #95

I took my first train ride yesterday. It started in Milford, Connecticut and ended at Baltimore, Maryland. It was definately not the "pretty" way to travel. As I was sitting by the window looking at Connecticut, then New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, then Delaware and finally Maryland I noticed I didn't see anything that would make me say "Ohhh" or "Ahhhh" to. I've never seen so much trash on the ground, how people live when you live in the "slums", and all I saw were junk yards and factories. When I saw the trash I thought about how we're not taking good care of our world. When I saw the buildings people lived in and their condition I thought those are not homes to live in. When I saw the junk yards and big factories it made me think of the movie "Erin Brockovich". They just didn't look safe. Like you don't want to raise kids or have your kids playing by them.
You really don't see beautiful America like I see it as my boyfriend, Mark and I are traveling. I love this country, don't get me wrong. I think it's a wonderful place to live and as we're traveling for 2 years (1 in the U.S. and the other year out of the country) we are seeing so many lively cities with such beauty and individuality to them. Sometimes those people don't even know what else is out there in this BIG world.
Seeing this side of the country made me think of what I have in my life. I am so blessed.
